Does Closing Some Of The Vents On A Home With Central A/c Damage The Condenser?

If a really big house in central Texas has central Air Conditioning and there are a couple of “currently not in use,” back bedrooms…is it wise to close the vents in the rooms that don’t need to be cooled right now? I think it’s a really good idea because it will save on my electricity bill. But my sweet step-mother, (who has tons of common sense and is usually right about almost everything) insists that this is very hard on the A/C condensor and that I might burn up my outside condensor unit.
I don’t think so because I can’t see any reason why it would bother the condensor in any way but now she’s gotten me all nervous.
Can somebody please straighten this delemnia out?

Ok. well my wedding was scheduled to be on September 20, 2008 . I live in houston Texas and where hit by IKE a week before I pretty much knew my wedding was off but by Wednesday i got hold of the church and was told everything was going back to normal so i was told to either get married as planned or I would have to wait till next year after June or so and well the hall told me they were expecting the electricity on any day now because the businesses where the priority and urged to go ahead with it. He pretty much guaranteed it over and over again and well i decided to go through with it. he also said worst case scenario would be Generators, but made it seem very unlikely. Then on friday at 4:00 pm i got a call saying there was still no power but the wedding was still on they said I would have very minimal lighting and no air conditioning. My husband asked for ac units but were told by the planner that corporate was just laughing and they would do no such thing. We then asked for our money back but were told that the only way we would is if we would take them to court . we spent over 8,000 to have this wedding for it to turn out bad and not get our moneys worth. How do I go about this?
What Are My Rights Against A Debt Collector, And How Can I Ensure That It Does Not Effect My Credit Score?

I got a letter today from a debt collector dated on 5/15. It states that I owe money due to failure of payment to my electricity provider. Now, I got a bill in the mail on 5/11 it was from my new electric provider. It states that I owed money for my 1st month but it said due 5/3. Now, I got this bill later I don’t know why, but I made the payment that day on 5/11.
Now, I got a letter from the debt collector stating they have tried to reach me, yet I have never gotten any calls. They also told me to contact my provider, which I DID and they confirmed that they got my payment. I am now so worried this is going to effect my credit score as I have a really high score! Can someone please advise me on what to do and how to handle this. Please note that I got the debt collection letter today 5/20 and it was dated for 5/15 and i had paid the balance in full on 5/11. This is all for $47.00 dollars also the debt collector told me I need top pay $13.00 for their fee. I am in Texas and I realise there are certain problems we can run into with electricity providers I do think something went wrong on their end.Please advise me on what I can do., what are my rights as a consumer…

A house designed “in harmony with the landscape.” To reduce heating and cooling needs, prevailing winds and temperatures were taken into account in situating the building. The house also uses two lesser-known environmentally friendly technologies: geothermal heating and wastewater recycling.
Inside a closet, a collection of pipes is thrust deep into the earth, down where the sun don’t shine and the temperature is perpetually 67 degrees. Water circulates through this zone and then back up into house pipes to heat or cool the building. The system uses less electricity than conventional heating and cooling installations, but that electricity does come from the local electric grid. The house also has a well and recycles its water. Water that flows out a tub drain is known as “gray water”; water from the toilet is “black water.” This home recycles both types via subterranean filtration tanks and uses the resultant cleaner water in the garden. Hint: it’s in Crawford Texas.
Does Using A ‘water Mister’ On My Outdoor House A/c System’s Condenser Make Sense ?

I’ve only recently discovered the WONDERS of a patio mister. I’m no physics major, but the fine mist of water lands on your skin and evaporates, making you feel cooler 20-30 degrees. I then found a very expensive outdoor a/c unit water mister and I further researched that this is also done for commercial roof-top HVAC units.
Assuming I can safely figure out when the outdoor a/c fan kicks on (it’s one wire), to then allow the misters to turn on (rigging one of those battery powered water timers) - would this make my outdoor ac unit work ‘less hard’ and save more in electricity, than the very small amount I’ll lose in water. If so, uhm… why don’t more people do this ?? (I live in hot San Antonio, Texas)

Why Does My Electric Bill Come Once Every 1 1/2 Or 2 Months, Instead Of Once A Month?
I live in Texas, and couldn’t afford the $800 deposit to hook up with TXU, which is the big electric company in my area, so I signed up first with Commerce Energy, When I didn’t receive my bill after 1 month I called them and asked them, they say were working on it, we can make you payment arrangements when you get your bill if it’s big, call back, well this continued for 9 months, Then I finally get a call from them saying that I owed about $1,600. I asked about the payment arrangement and they said $300 now and the rest on MOnday or you’ll get shut off. So I went to Freedom power, which I don’t even want to go over the HORRORS, but anyway now I’m with Ambit energy and It’s been about 1 1/2 months since I started new services. They told me that TXU or Encore, normally read them every month, they supposedly called them and said I’d get a reading within 7 days, This was 2 weeks ago, They say that they are checking on this. The only thing is I really can’t afford a double bill, and does anyone know if there’s a reason that this keeps on happening to me I can really use the advice. They told me I would get a bill every month, I just don’t want history to repeat itself and get a extreme bill, and I feel like I’m trying to do the right thing, Any advices that I can tell the electric company to get a bill just once a month?
Does Anyone Know Who I Could Report Txu To For Something They Have Done?
My child’s father currently has TXU and we are having a couple issues with them. First issue - He moved May 30th from his old apartment to his new one.and schedule these dates to disconnect and connect new service. He asked to have his new service and account connected on May 30th and have his old service and account disconnected on June 2nd. Well we ended up getting bills till June 25th because they forgot to do it. We also got a HUGE bill from the new complex for using their energy. They tell us they can’t adjust the bill to what we asked bc one of the bills have a time when we were living there for part of the usage time frame. Well I tell them its not fair to us bc they made a mistake and now they are trying to get us to pay for it. And all ANYONE will say is “it’s not fair to us either bc we have no way of telling how much u actually used during that time. WHEN THIS IS ALL BC THEY MADE A MISTAKE AND DIDNT connect or disconnect our services. Who can we contact to report them for doing this so we can get this taken care of.
NEXT issue - I am not on his account what so ever and once I called to try and fix his issue for him bc he was busy at work and all I gave them was my name then I gave them his name address and last 4 digits of his social to verify so they could let me take care of what he needed. Well there is electricity in my name from about 6 1/2 yrs ago which someone put into my name and I didnt and I never paid it bc I found out about it about 3 yrs ago. Well now they are sending HIM a letter addressed to his name saying that an account in my name will be placed on his current account in 10 days. They also sent a letter saying they were going to place the old account he had that he cant get them to fix on his current account as well (which they already sent to collections) How can they do that?
anyways I am not sure how clear I made this sound bc I am really pissed and trying to type fast so any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
(he has never made a late payment on his new account and always paid that old one current until that problem so all that old bill is lacking is the stuff txu billed WRONGLY. The new account is paid on perfect time)
Why Does My Electricity Go Out When I Run My Air Conditioner On My Travel Trailer?

The weather gets hot here in Texas. I turn on the air conditioner and within a half hour all the electricity goes out on my trailer. I go to the bedroom and trip the circuit protector to turn on the electricity in the trailer and within a short time everything goes out. What should I look for? This happens at everyplace I have stayed at. Even at the trailer parks that is where I stay because of my work.
